On Wednesday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi officially launched the renowned Bali Yatra festival along the banks of the Mahanadi River. During the inauguration of this week-long event, he announced a significant increase in government funding from ₹2 crore to ₹10 crore.
Majhi further revealed that the state government has devised an extensive plan costing ₹200 crore for the beautification of the Mahanadi riverfront in Cuttack under the 'Mahanadi River Front' initiative.
Describing the Bali Yatra as a vibrant reminder of Odisha's pride, bravery, and commercial history, the Chief Minister emphasized the government's commitment to preserving this historical heritage. He also mentioned that the state is actively working towards securing UNESCO World Heritage status for the historic Bali Yatra.
